Video: Akashic Visions - LHF

Fact magazine have suggested LHF might be dubstep's great hope. A bold claim given they haven't even released an album yet... But that is set to change with April's double disc Keepers of the Light.

I'll reserve judgement for a little longer but based on the Skely Tor directed video for 'Akashic Visions' above, things are promising. The sound feels utterly timeless, boasting an appreciation of everything that has happened in the UK urban electronic scene since jungle.

Exciting stuff. Keepers of the Light is released on 2 April as a 2 x CD and digital release through Keysound Recordings.

Comment: Franz Ferdinand covers get a remix and some videos

Last year Domino put out an EP of cover versions from Franz Ferdinand's Tonight album for Record Store Day, with versions by Stephin Merrit, Peaches and LCD Soundsystem amongst others. They are now about to release a series of remixes of these cover versions and have recently put out a video for each cover.

The remixes themselves feel a little bit hit and miss but the most exciting is certainly Brennan Green's remix of 'Live Alone', which draws from the original as well as both LCD Soundsystem and Debbie Harry's covers. Check it out:

The above mixes are taken from 12" 2, you can check out the other mixes here.

Of the 'original' covers I'm predictably smitten with the LCD one - if you haven't heard it check out the new video directed by Gabriel Pulecio below:

The remixes come out on 19 March and Franz Ferdinand are to headline London's Field Day on Saturday 2 July.

Video: Falling - Seasfire

Apparently Seasfire have been compared to the Weeknd. Based on the track 'Falling' I can sort of see why, although they feel like a very different beast - much more subtle and without the same overt lewdness to the lyrics. This also feels much more like an evolution of dubstep (specifically a continuation of the James Blake take on it) than R&B.

Anyway - it's a lovely little track with lots of atmosphere and some lovely crunchy synth overlays. Check it out. You can hear more over at Seasfire's Soundcloud page.

Video: Two Rings - Ice Choir

'Two Rings' is Ice Choir's debut single, taken from their as yet untitled album which is due for release next year. Think Tears for Fears meets Prefab Sprout: eighties bliss.

Ice Choir are Kurt Feldman, Patrick South, Raphael Radna and Avery Brooks - Feldman is better known for his other band The Pains of Being Pure at Heart.

Two Rings is out now on yesboyicecream / shelflife. Enjoy!
